Bums

An incident this morning totally irritates me. Hazel & I went to Union to print some photos using those kinda DIY Kodak machines we have in Singapore. It wasn't working when I touched the screen, looks like it's not turned on. So i got help from the counter. This young guy sauntered over. I sorta have this premonition from his half-awake face tht he's not really bothered to help.

So he looked at it, touched the blank screen, turned to me and said, "I don't think it's on on weekends. It's deifnitely on during weekdays."

It's a MACHINE. I don't think machines take off on weekends when the store is still open. There must be a ON/OFF button somewhere.

"You sure?", I asked. He started to look around for any switch to turn it on.

After like 3 secs, "Nah, I don't know. I'm sure it's on during weekdays. Come tmr." Another female colleague came over and helped to search for the ON/OFF button. But she can't find any and said dunno too. And both of them walked away.

So we walked about and when we're just about to leave, an older senior staff was signalling to us tht the machine was working. And she turned over to tell the 2, "There's a button here, you just need to press it to turn it on." =_= ... wth. Now he's called bum.

Den when I finally developed the photo, I paid at the counter where bum is the cashier (it's the only counter open). He wasn't even looking at me or the photo when I passed it to him. I doubt he even hear me say, "I printed one piece".

Bum took the photo and held it in front of the scanner. *#$%&#?@! Until the female colleague said, "What're u doing?" Then Bum broke out of his blur trance and looked at the piece of photo, not knowing what to do. Bum doesn't know what to key in. He looked over to the female colleague, she replied with a shurg and "I dunno"... totally bochap.

I stared at them.

Finally, after 5 secs of moving his hands above the cash register, Bum gave a 'wth' face and shouted, "Hey Steph!". So the senior staff came out again to help settle the payment.

I just don't understand why Bum and his friend have this totally-can't-be-bothered attitude. They brush it off when they don't know what to do, they dun even bother to ask for help, and they don't know that whatever reply they gave to the customer sounds stupid.

Bums. Either that, or they're having a hangover.
