Lantau Island & Peak

11:06 PM Edit This
First day was exhausting with all the walking. Definitely lost stamina from the backpacking days during Easter. Well, this day is packed to the brim! Starting from going to Lantau Island (aka Da Yu Shan) to The Peak at night :)

We woke up early to catch the famous Starferry from HK island to Southeast of Lantau Island at a place called Mui Wo. Well, according to our guide book we're able to see nice coastal view of the island before reaching our destination Ngong Ping.

This is An reading the papers while waiting for our ferry to arrive.

Transportation in HK is pretty convenient, we can pay all kinds of transport with our Octopus Card (Ba Da Tong). It works the same way as our ez-link card and is used for most of the public transport and even food payment.

This is the area where we queue for our bus to Ngong Ping, just a few metres from the pier.

Then we waited, and waited and waited... and realised that the next bus only arrive after 40mins! OMG... the queue is getting longer and longer! Luckily we didnt leave the queue, cuz when the bus arrived, only half of the passengers queueing up can board! and the next bus is 1hr later... *heng*

Actually, there is SOME coastal view... and they are pretty much being obscured by trees and bushes =_=|| Ayez, but we still did see some impressive mountains that were so densely covered with trees and a nice view of a lake (which we only know later it's a reservoir)

YEAY! Reach Ngong Ping~ Home to the famous Po Lin Monastery and the Big Buddha. Truly a sight to behold :)

Pardon my excitement, but this area is literally the ideal place to Shang Shan Xiu Xing! *looks at Xueyin* hahaha... Huge open areas surrounded by green mountains and the sea in the distance with a magnificent Buddha sitting serenely in the middle of nature. *Amitabha*

Interestingly, there are many Poinsettia plants around. With its vibrant red, I'm sure it doubles up as a prosperous and lucky colour for the Chinese in the Christmas season :)

That place is a must go for tourists! haha... Levis, Adidas, Puma, Nike, I.T., Esprit... it's a factory outlet MALL! Woohoo~ Whilst An had a very fruitful shopping trip, I returned to HK island without any buys :(

Anyway, the next highlight for us is to head to THE PEAK! and guess who I saw?? Jackie Chan!

I think the Peak is like a showcase of the best in HK's history. Most popular movie stars to the essential transport for the rich and famous to reach their super duper expensive homes at the peak.
